Ξεκίνησε η προπώληση για το Master Class του John Randal Kleiser, του δημιουργού που χάρισε στο παγκόσμιο κινηματογραφικό στερέωμα το Grease, το πιο επιτυχημένο μιούζικαλ όλων των εποχών και πολλές ακόμα κινηματογραφικές επιτυχίες.
Ο διεθνούς φήμης Αμερικανός σκηνοθέτης, σεναριογράφος και παραγωγός επέλεξε να επισκεφθεί για πρώτη φορά, τη χώρα μας και στο πλαίσιο της γενικότερης αντίληψης, που γεννιέται στους καλλιτεχνικούς κύκλους των ΗΠΑ "Save Greece", ώστε να μοιραστεί με Έλληνες κινηματογραφιστές και ηθοποιούς τα μυστικά μιας επιτυχημένης, διεθνούς καριέρας σε ένα 4ωρης διάρκειας Master Class, τη Δευτέρα, 20 Φεβρουαρίου 2012, από τις 13:00 έως τις 17:00, στο Ίδρυμα Μιχάλης Κακογιάννης.
Πρόκειται για μια ακόμη πρωτοβουλία του ΙΜΚ στο πλαίσιο των Act and Re- Act: Masterclasses που πραγματοποιούνται με την ευγενική χορηγία της οικογένειας Λιβανού, στη μνήμη του Μιχάλη Κακογιάννη, προσφέροντας στο καλλιτεχνικό δυναμικό της χώρας μια ακόμη δυνατότητα κατάρτισης με συμμετοχή χαμηλού κόστους.
Επιπλέον, την Κυριακή 19 Φεβρουαρίου 2012, θα υπάρξει μία συνάντηση γνωριμίας - προετοιμασίας του Masterclass, του Kleiser με όλους όσοι ενδιαφέρονται, στο ΙΜΚ.
Ο John Randal Kleiser, εκτός από το Grease (1978), έχει σκηνοθετήσει σειρά ταινιών μεγάλου μήκους όπως η Γαλάζια Λίμνη (The Blue Lagoon) (1980), με πρωταγωνίστρια τη Brooke Shields, το Summer Lovers (1982) με τη Daryl Hannah, το Grandview, U.S.A. (1984) με την Jamie Lee Curtis, το Flight of the Navigator (1986), στο οποίο έγινε για πρώτη φορά η χρήση digital morphing in σε φιλμ, το Big Top Pee-wee (1988), το White Fang (1991) το Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992), κ.α.
Στο Λονδίνο, ο Kleiser σκηνοθέτησε την κωμωδία Getting It Right (1989), με τις Lynn Redgrave, Helena Bonham Carter, Jane Horrocks και τον Sir John Gielgud στους πρωταγωνιστικούς ρόλους. Το 1996, έγραψε και σκηνοθέτησε το It's My Party, με τους Eric Roberts, Gregory Harrison, Lee Grant, Bruce Davison και την Marlee Matlin. Ως συγγραφέας – παραγωγός είναι υπεύθυνος για το surfing film North Shore (1987) της εταιρίας Universal Pictures. Σκηνοθέτησε επίσης, το θρίλερ Shadow of Doubt (1998) με τους Melanie Griffith και Tom Berenger. Δουλεύοντας σε 70mm 3-D, σκηνοθέτησε το Honey, I Shrunk the Audience (1995) στα θεματικά πάρκα Disney στο Anaheim, το Ορλάντο, το Τόκυο και το Παρίσι. Οι τηλεταινίες που σκηνοθέτησε περιλαμβάνουν το The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (1976) με πρωταγωνιστή τον John Travolta, το βραβευμένο με Emmy, The Gathering (1977) και το Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway (1976).
Έχει διδάξει σε εργαστήρια αποφοίτων στο USC και σε Μεταπτυχιακά Τμήματα Σκηνοθεσίας για ευρωπαίους φοιτητές σε κινηματογραφικά Φεστιβάλ στη Deuville το Sarlat, και τη Μάλαγα. Είναι μέλος της κριτικής επιτροπής για τα βραβεία των Σπουδαστών της Ακαδημία Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Είναι επίσης Πρόεδρος της Ακαδημαϊκής Επιτροπής του Directors Guild of America ενώ έχει εγκαινιάσει ένα πρόγραμμα videoconference με στόχο να συνδεθούν οι κινηματογραφικές σπουδές με επαγγελματίες σκηνοθέτες. Σε συνεργασία με το Graphics Lab του Ινστιτούτου USC για τις Δημιουργικές Τεχνολογίες, έχει εφεύρει μια ψηφιακή διαδικασία με την ονομασία Vistarama HD.
Ο Kleiser υπήρξε ο ιθύνων νους στο σχεδιασμό και την κινηματογράφηση της ταινίας Red Riding Hood (2004/2006). Η ταινία αυτή άνοιξε νέους δρόμους στην ψηφιακή κινηματογραφία μέσα από την ευρεία χρήση των διαδραστικών εικονικών σκηνικών. Η πρεμιέρα της ταινίας έγινε το 2006 στο 1ο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ψηφιακού Κινηματογράφου στη Λισσαβόνα.
Το Master class
Στο Master class που θα δώσει στην Αθήνα, στο Ίδρυμα Μιχάλης Κακογιάννης, τη Δευτέρα 20 Φεβρουαρίου 2012, 13:00 - 17:00, θα χρησιμοποιήσει ως βάση τις κινηματογραφήσεις του, σε συνεργασία με τον George Lucas, από τη διδασκαλία υποκριτικής της μεγάλης Αμερικανίδας δασκάλας και πρωταγωνίστριας πλήθους ταινιών: Nina Foch.
Η Nina Foch δίδασκε από το 1960 έως το θάνατό της το 2005 στο University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts" το θρυλικό, πλέον, μάθημα "Κατευθύνοντας τον Ηθοποιό".
Το μάθημα της Nina Foch απευθυνόταν σε σκηνοθέτες, ηθοποιούς, σεναριογράφους όπως και επαγγελματίες του χώρου (παραγωγή, μοντάζ κλπ) και στηριζόταν στη μελέτη και τη συνεργασία της με σκηνοθέτες όπως οι: Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, Vincente Minnelli, Stanley Kubrick, Robert Wise, Otto Preminger, Blake Edwards, Cecil B. DeMille κ.α.
Το πολυεπίπεδο Master Class του John Randal Kleiser απευθύνεται σε σπουδαστές και επαγγελματίες σκηνοθέτες, ηθοποιούς, συγγραφείς και σεναριογράφους αλλά επιπλέον και σε όλους όσοι ενδιαφέρονται να γνωρίσουν τις βασικές αρχές προσέγγισης ενός κοινού. Αποτελεί ένα ανεκτίμητο εργαλείο για οποιονδήποτε εμπλέκεται τόσο στις παραστατικές τέχνες, όσο στο δημόσιο λόγο, αυτόν που εκφωνείται σε χώρους εργασίας, σχολικές αίθουσες, αίθουσες δικαστηρίων ή ανοικτές εκδηλώσεις. Ticket presale already started for the Master Class by John Randal Kleiser, the filmmaker who contributed to the global cinematic arts with the movie Grease, the most successful musical of all times as well as many more cinematic successes.
The internationally renowned, American director, screenwriter and producer decided to visit our country, for the first time ever, in the framework of the general concept under the motto “Save Greece”, being germinated in the artistic fields of U.S.A., in order to share with Greek filmmakers and actors the secrets of an ultimately successful, international career in a 4hour Master Class, on Monday, February the 20th 2012, from 13:00 to 17:00, at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.
It is one more initiative by MCF, in the line of Act and Re- Act: Masterclasses which take place with the kind donation by the Livanou family in memory of Michael Cacoyannis, offering to the artistic workforce of our country one more opportunity for training with low-cost fees.
Moreover, on Sunday, the 19th of February 2012, an Open Meeting (preparation – briefing) will take place with Randal Kleiser and all those who are interested in participating at the Masterclass, at MCF.
Apart from Grease (1978), he has directed several feature films like The Blue Lagoon (1980) with Brooke Shields as leading actress, Summer Lovers (1982) with Daryl Hannah, the Grandview, U.S.A. (1984) with Jamie Lee Curtis, the Flight of the Navigator (1986), in which digital morphing in was used in a film for the first time ever, the Big Top Pee-wee (1988), the White Fang (1991) and the Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992).
In London, Kleiser directed the comedy Getting It Right (1989), with Lynn Redgrave, Helena Bonham Carter, Jane Horrocks and Sir John Gielgud in the leading parts. In 1996, he wrote and directed the It's My Party with Eric Roberts, Gregory Harrison, Lee Grant, Bruce Davison and Marlee Matlin. As screenwriter – producer is responsible for the surfing film North Shore (1987) of Universal Pictures. He has also directed the thriller Shadow of Doubt (1998) with Melanie Griffith and Tom Berenger. Working on 70mm 3-D, he directed the film Honey, I Shrunk the Audience (1995) for the Disney amusement parks in Anaheim, Orlando, Tokyo and Paris. The TV shows he directed include The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (1976) with John Travolta as leading actor, the Emmy awarded, The Gathering (1977) and the Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway (1976).
He has taught in graduate workshops at the USC as well as at Directing Postgraduate Programs to European students in film festivals of Deuville, Sarlat and Malaga. He is a member of the jury for the Scholar awards of the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Academy. He is also President of the Academic Committee for the Directors Guild of America while he has inaugurated a videoconference program aiming to connect film studies with professional directors. In cooperation with the Graphics Lab of the USC Institute for Creative Technologies, he has invented a digital procedure entitled Vistatama HD.
Kleiser has been the mastermind for the design as well as the shooting of the film Red Riding Hood (2004/2006). This film has been ground-breaking for digital cinema through a wide use of interactive virtual sets. The film’s premiere took place in 2006 at the 1st International Digital Film Festival in Lisbon.
The Master Class
At the Master Class he will teach in Athens, at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, on Monday, the 20th of February 2012, 13:00 – 17:00, he is going to use as tuition material, his entire filming from the acting instruction by the great American tutor and leading actress in numerous films: Nina Foch, which he has shot in cooperation with George Lucas.
Nina Foch had been teaching from 1960 to her passing in 2005 at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, the legendary, now on, course “Leading an Actor”.
The course by Nina Foch was addressed to directors, actors, screenwriters as well as professionals of the fields (production, editing etc.) while it was based on her study and her cooperation with directors like: Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, Vincente Minnelli, Stanley Kubrick, Robert Wise, Otto Preminger, Blake Edwards, Cecil B. DeMille etc.
The multilevel Master Class by John Randal Kleiser is addressed to students and professional directors, actors, authors and screenwriters, moreover to everybody who is interested in being introduced to the fundamental principles of approaching an audience. It is an invaluable tool for anyone who is involved much like in the performing arts, as well as in public speech, the speech addressed in workplaces, school classes, courts or open events.

The internationally renowned, American director, screenwriter and producer decided to visit our country, for the first time ever, in the framework of the general concept under the motto “Save Greece”, being germinated in the artistic fields of U.S.A., in order to share with Greek filmmakers and actors the secrets of an ultimately successful, international career in a 4hour Master Class, on Monday, February the 20th 2012, from 13:00 to 17:00, at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.
It is one more initiative by MCF, in the line of Act and Re- Act: Masterclasses which take place with the kind donation by the Livanou family in memory of Michael Cacoyannis, offering to the artistic workforce of our country one more opportunity for training with low-cost fees.
Moreover, on Sunday, the 19th of February 2012, an Open Meeting (preparation – briefing) will take place with Randal Kleiser and all those who are interested in participating at the Masterclass, at MCF.
Apart from Grease (1978), he has directed several feature films like The Blue Lagoon (1980) with Brooke Shields as leading actress, Summer Lovers (1982) with Daryl Hannah, the Grandview, U.S.A. (1984) with Jamie Lee Curtis, the Flight of the Navigator (1986), in which digital morphing in was used in a film for the first time ever, the Big Top Pee-wee (1988), the White Fang (1991) and the Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992).
In London, Kleiser directed the comedy Getting It Right (1989), with Lynn Redgrave, Helena Bonham Carter, Jane Horrocks and Sir John Gielgud in the leading parts. In 1996, he wrote and directed the It's My Party with Eric Roberts, Gregory Harrison, Lee Grant, Bruce Davison and Marlee Matlin. As screenwriter – producer is responsible for the surfing film North Shore (1987) of Universal Pictures. He has also directed the thriller Shadow of Doubt (1998) with Melanie Griffith and Tom Berenger. Working on 70mm 3-D, he directed the film Honey, I Shrunk the Audience (1995) for the Disney amusement parks in Anaheim, Orlando, Tokyo and Paris. The TV shows he directed include The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (1976) with John Travolta as leading actor, the Emmy awarded, The Gathering (1977) and the Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway (1976).
He has taught in graduate workshops at the USC as well as at Directing Postgraduate Programs to European students in film festivals of Deuville, Sarlat and Malaga. He is a member of the jury for the Scholar awards of the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Academy. He is also President of the Academic Committee for the Directors Guild of America while he has inaugurated a videoconference program aiming to connect film studies with professional directors. In cooperation with the Graphics Lab of the USC Institute for Creative Technologies, he has invented a digital procedure entitled Vistatama HD.
Kleiser has been the mastermind for the design as well as the shooting of the film Red Riding Hood (2004/2006). This film has been ground-breaking for digital cinema through a wide use of interactive virtual sets. The film’s premiere took place in 2006 at the 1st International Digital Film Festival in Lisbon.
The Master Class
At the Master Class he will teach in Athens, at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, on Monday, the 20th of February 2012, 13:00 – 17:00, he is going to use as tuition material, his entire filming from the acting instruction by the great American tutor and leading actress in numerous films: Nina Foch, which he has shot in cooperation with George Lucas.
Nina Foch had been teaching from 1960 to her passing in 2005 at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, the legendary, now on, course “Leading an Actor”.
The course by Nina Foch was addressed to directors, actors, screenwriters as well as professionals of the fields (production, editing etc.) while it was based on her study and her cooperation with directors like: Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, Vincente Minnelli, Stanley Kubrick, Robert Wise, Otto Preminger, Blake Edwards, Cecil B. DeMille etc.
The multilevel Master Class by John Randal Kleiser is addressed to students and professional directors, actors, authors and screenwriters, moreover to everybody who is interested in being introduced to the fundamental principles of approaching an audience. It is an invaluable tool for anyone who is involved much like in the performing arts, as well as in public speech, the speech addressed in workplaces, school classes, courts or open events.
