Η Αμαλία Γιαννίκου γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην Αθήνα. Είναι πτυχιούχος του τμήματος Αγγλικής Φιλολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών κι έχει εργαστεί στο χώρο των εκδόσεων, της μουσικής και της τηλεόρασης.
Πρόσφατα αποφοίτησε από το School of Cinema/ Television του University of Southern California (Los Angeles) με πτυχίο Master in Fine Arts in Film Production. Έχει δεχτεί σημαντικές υποτροφίες και δωρεές, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των Hollywood Foreign Press Scholarship (2002) και Joe Dante Fellowship (2002), ενώ η εταιρία Kodak στο Los Angeles της χορήγησε 100% του φιλμ που χρειαζόταν για τα γυρίσματα της μικρού μήκους ταινίας της "Ίριδες". Έχει μαθητεύσει στα Universal Studios και στην Miramax Films, ενώ αυτή τη στιγμή δουλεύει πάνω σε δύο σενάρια μεγάλου μήκους, ένα στα αγγλικά κι ένα στα ελληνικά.

Amalia Giannikou was born and lived in Athens. She graduated from the department of English Literature, University Athens and has worked in the turfs of publications, music and television.
She recently graduated from the School of Cinema/Television of the University of Southern California (Los Angeles) with an M.F.A. in Film Production. She has won important scholarships and donations, among which the Hollywood Foreign Press Scholarship (2002) and Joe Dante Fellowship (2002), while the Kodak company in Los Angeles has granted her all the film that she needed for the shootings of her short film "Seeking Iris". She was an apprentice in the Universal Studios and in the Miramax Films, and at this moment she works on two feature scripts, in English and in Greek.
